Galapagos Islands: Ecuador gives US military permission to use airstrip in wildlife haven

Ecuador's defence minister Oswaldo Jarrin provoked outrage and subsequent protests after saying US aircraft will be able to use San Cristobal airport, which many have said will damage the archipalago's unique animal and plant life, and have seen as a threat to the country's sovereignty and the UN world heritage site's environment.
